What our clients are saying about Deadhead Lures!

The first two days were tough going on the yellow tail. I only caught 3 in two days and all three were on dropper loop. Everything changed today. I went straight to the jig and (wham) hit hard on the fall on my first drop (blue glitter). That same jig produced 3 more pretty quickly until I lost it (f*cking seal stole my yellowtail right at the side of the boat!). At that point I had 4 decent sized yellowtail onboard and my arms needed a break from jigging so I switched to dropper loop. Caught one on the dropper loop. Switched back to jig. Squid this time. Caught 3 more.

We made a killing with the Deadhead Lures, yellow tail and grouper couldn't stay away from the lures. This one came in at 38 pounds!D

Cedros Islands in October

Was fishing in Cedros, end of October and the YT were not biting any surface irons. They were concentrated around 150'-200' depth and the YoYo was getting hammered. I met someone on the trip who let me use the 6oz Dead Head iron and for 3 days -  I got hammered on it with all of my yellows. The heavier weight combined with the size & profile allowed me to get to the bottom quickly and stay vertical to stay in the zone and constantly get bit. Great lures and as soon as I got home I purchased a bunch of them!

Epic Mexico Trip

My friends & I just came back from an epic trip to Cedros Island & three other stops, Mulege, Loretta, & La Paz, all in Mexico.  It was to early in the season & we had to work hard for our gains.  Surface irons & live bait, if we could get it, worked well.  We caught 15 different species, 14 that we could identify, 1 that I forgot the name of.  The Deadhead mint 6oz worked extremely well, but I didn’t take enough of them.   After losing some in the rocks, we tried the Salas mint, and it didn’t work as well.  We caught 11 species on the mint Deadhead surface iron.

Tony Reyes Trip Mexico

Caught some bruiser yellowtail 4 over 40 lbs last week. Took a five mile jaunt to another high spot and had my Deadhead jig sucked up on the drop in 170 ft of water. I knew it wasn’t a yellowtail. I was thinking grouper or Black Sea bass. To my surprise it turned out to be a nice 54 lb White Sea bass.

Well after years of hearing how great the fishing was down in Bahia de Los Angeles Mexico (BOLA) from my Uncle, I finally was able to experience the hype for myself. My Uncle, Denis Quesnel, the owner of Deadhead Lures was right. The lures were the hot ticket all week. Cast after cast we hooked up to yellow tail to 40lbs and cabrilla to 20lbs. The BASTARD SERIES as we named them were awesome. The brown, orange and blue were doing their job. I’m not just saying that because Denis is family, I’m saying it because I saw the lures work for myself. I will definitely use the lures again and let people know how well they work. Of course I will be back to BOLA again some day.

One of two jackpots in a row. The lingcod was caught off Malibu California using a large blue Deadhead lure.

Second day of two jackpots in a row. What are the odds? An 8lb salmon grouper off the coast of Santa Barbara using a large mint Deadhead lure.

Kirk Faulkner

Can’t keep the lingcod off the brown glitter Deadhead. The mint on the surface kills the Bonita too.

Bahia de Los Angeles...it was all you wanted surface yellowtail on the blue/glitter jig. Then turned around and dropped to the bottom for this guy. I just love Deadhead lures versatility. Same jig kills them casting to surface fish or yo-yo jigging on the bottom.

Zack Rehfuss.

This Cedros Island slug bit the Deadhead jig on the surface...along with about 20 others that day.

Casting a mint Deadhead in Gonzaga Bay nabbed my best ever leopard grouper at just over 20lbs. Up and down the sea of Cortez I’ve consistently seen these jigs out produce any other jig 3-1.

Bay of LA Mexico killed the cabrilla on the Deadhead brown glitter lure. Our captain “Juan Cook” even changed to the Deadhead lure after we smoked him 7-1.

These lures worked great on a recent trip to San Quintin Baja Mexico. They worked particularly well on all species to include lingcod, Rick fish, & sand bass

"After reading about dead head lures and how well they worked fishing for yellowtail in the Baja, I decided to give them a try. My trip was in three weeks. I contacted Denis and he set me up with the blue lures for the yellows and goldish color for the cabrilla. They both worked excellent. I definitely would recommend these lures. Also, Denis' customer service was excellent".

"I recently purchased some deadhead lures for a trip to Bay of LA. The lures are of high quality and they slay fish! Love the deadhead lures that Denis makes. I high recommend them. Can’t wait to get out on the water and slay some more fish with them"
